Shanti is just the kind of futuristic post-hedonistic place Alexander Pelevin could have dreamed up in one of his novels. Whilst seeming like a typical, classy Moscow club on the outset, enter on a Friday night and it's dark, low lit space and hypnotic, bass heavy house tunes will transport you into a subterranean world away from the irritations of the usual Moscow nightlife. There is a large seating area with small sets of tables and chairs which that extends to a quieter, lighter around the back. If you're eating, take the opportunity to try something spicy - the Tom Yam soup is amazing! - or relax in the back room with a hookah. As you weave your way through the dining area to the bar there is a small but buzzing dance floor where enthusiastic dancers get into the music. The club often hosts female DJs and the sound system is superb. The bar finally is small but lively and colourful and barmen are quick to cater for you. As well as offering something a bit different on a night out, Shanti gives you a taste of Russian escapism in it's alcohol soaked, hookah smoked, ellegantly housed out full.
