Mercure Glasgow City Hotel

Room was small but adeqate for one night. We were at the front of the hotel facing on to a very busy road and it was very noisy. The room decor needs freshened up and the bathroom fittings need to be looked at. The side panel on the sink was bowed and loose.

Breakfast was not a very good experience. One member of staff in the restaurant who seemed to be trying to deal with everything. Hot food buffet was poorly stocked and few items available at the same time so couldn't have a complete breakfast. I was on the whole disappointed with my first experience of the Mercure brand. Certainly would not rush back or be inclined to recommend the hotel to others.

My wife and I are living in Washington, DC in US. We stayed in your hotel for seven nights from August 28 – September 4. During our stay, we felt the warmth and hospitality from some of your staff. Especially we would like to say something for Mr. Chris Armstrong. During our stay, Houston, Texas was in flood because of the hurricane. Our daughter lives in Houston. We worried about her and her family very much. Since we could not get touch with our daughter, Chris used the hotel email to help us in touch with her. Also for our departure, we need our plane boarding passes. But on that day, we joined a tour. When we were back to hotel in the late afternoon, Chris helped us to get the boarding passes printed. He was full of enthusiasm and always ready to help the customers. We are very grateful to him for his help.

The room was clean but stiflingly hot. No air con to cool and down quite noisy with the window open. Big comfy bed but not much space in the room apart from a small desk. No sockets by the bed to charge a phone. No extractor fan in the bathroom so it got steamed up when showers were being had in the.morning. Cheap price made the stay worth while though. Staff helpful and friendly.

I booked a double room but was disheartened to be given a twin room (a single bed is too small for me). Reception promptly changed me to one with a super king bed. Very comfortable but had to remove the plastic backed mattress protector first. Room small but its a city centre location so space a premium. Powerful shower, good flow. The secondary window glazing in front of the external window kept noise to a minimum. Slept well. Room clean. Disappointed no complimentary biscuits with room tea/coffee. Hotel has no vending machines and no convenience stores nearby (just nightclubs).

Had a lovely 2 nights stay at Mercure Glasgow. Breakfast was brilliant and plenty of choice. The room was small but very comfortable, cleaner's in daily and towels etc changed and bed made. Was perfect for us and thanks to a very helpful gentleman member of staff who shared the lift with us on Saturday morning on our way out told us about the trains from Argyle St station to the exhibition centre where we were heading for for the Ignition Festival. Overall very happy with service we received and would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others.
