Kelly's review below is an interesting work of fiction. Anyone thinking of taking her review seriously should note that she was not the target of any racial or ablist abuse, but was asked to leave when caught drinking her own booze and started an argument at the bar instead of peacefully going on her way. I happened to be stood next to her when she kicked off. At the time she denied drinking her own booze so it's good that she now admits to it. She then went on to steal an antique mask that had been lent to the pub to serve as decoration for an event they'd held the previous night.

It's also interesting that the only activity on her Google account is her single negative review. Almost like she just had an axe to grind because she was angry at having made a public fool of herself.

Rest assured the Chemic is not a place that tolerates racism or ablism.

Staff politely asked the white girl who was SEEN drinking her own alcohol to leave. Staff rudely shouted at the black disabled friend in front of the entire bar and then let the drunk loyal (also white) customers shout abuse (for no reason other than she asked for the managers details so she could send a formal query/complaint in private - away from the rowdy bar!).

There are no positive words for this place. If a customer asks for manager details due to experiencing discrimination, racism and theft - the management should comply. The manager cant just say "no" and laugh, without any explanation?!

Poor poor service and i just cant believe this place is "managed" by someone who would laugh in a disabled black persons face who was already feeling isolated, belittled and attacked.

AWFUL.

Been going this pub for years. Never had a bad night, lovely people, lovely pub. Good beer and good prices. Good event and music! A real pub. Not many like this left.

Nice atmosphere. Had a chat with the owner who was lovely. Bar staff were also really great. Went to an open mic night to help out with Mark Connors performing who was great. Not enough seating for everyone who wanted to attend but everyone was friendly. However young women keep an eye out as I was harassed by a man that night and made to feel unsafe, got the feeling he was a local.
